STOP LEARNING IRRELEVANT SKILLS.

My generation always gets information wrongly. The general society is emphasizing learning a skill after school. The right thing to do is to learn a skill. But learn a skill that correlates to what you studied in school. Build a career. There are no job opportunities, but make yourself employable. Learn a skill that can be added to your CV, so that when a job eventually comes you'd be qualified for it. Don't study Accounting in the university, and then learn shoe making or tailoring after school and still feel you'd get a job as an Accountant someday. There are skills that would fetch you quick money as an accounting graduate and also be relevant when a job for an Accountant pops up. The problem isn't really shortage of job opportunities, this generation has paid very little attention to career development. We've placed money making above everything, so we're making quick money at the expense of lifetime money and plenty money. It's not our fault anyways. Poor career information before, during and after school na him cause these problems. Maybe counsellors posted to secondary schools aren't doing their jobs right. But learn, learn on your own. Don't just waste precious time learning any skill because the society has said you should have a skill. Everybody dey learn tailoring and shoe making, even graduates. After how many years of studying in the university, you'd park your degree at one corner to learn a skill that would fetch you quick money, at the detriment of your degree. What becomes of your 4-5years school fees? What of the time spent to acquire the training? Your sponsors would be disappointed. Learn to be patient enough to develop your careers. I am not against skills acquisition, but if you want to be a professional then, act like a one and develop yourself. If you're going to attend university only to park the degree to the side, just save yourself the stress and learn a skill. Your school fees would get you good machines and help you establish a business, 4-5years na enough time to be established to some extent. Stop seeing education as scam. Think outside the societal box. Start seeing how you can survive with your education, not how to survive without it.
